WARNING: This Review contains spoilers from Arkham City
The game that was awarded with our Game of the Year has returned with it’s first downloadable mission.
The mission takes place some time after the events of Arkham City, Batman is captured by Harley Quinn who is mourning the loss of her “Mr.J”. Robin is sent in to rescue Batman after he’s gone missing. Harley Quinn is holding several GCPD officers, and of course, the caped crusader comes to save the day, but to only find himself as one of the hostages. Batman is no longer the same person and a lot people have been questioning his emotions after the death of Talia Al’ Ghul and The Joker. If he was a man of few words before, he’s now a man of even less. It seems as this DLC was made to show how the characters have been affected.
The DLC switches between Robin and Batman as playable characters, each with their own set of gadgets. Seeing as I never purchased the Robin Challenge pack, I had an absolute blast using him for the first time. Not only do I love Tim Drake’s character, but he fits into the gameplay so well, like a more aggressive Batman. Sure you’ll miss some of the Dark Knight’s more stealthier approaches to situations, but the in your face attitude of the Boy Wonder is a refreshing one. For those collectible lovers, there’s Harley Quinn balloons all over the mission’s map to discover and pop.
Harley Quinn’s Revenge is a bout 2 hours long, the pacing is a little off but the story and spectacular gameplay make up for it. If this is any sign of things to come, I’m very impressed. I would love Rocksteady to release more DLC, and hopefully touch on some of the secrets, unanswered questions and storylines of the bonus missions in Arkham City. Batman’s story is far from over, and I can’t wait to see how his character evolves in Rocksteady’s universe.
