ZEN Studios has added yet another batch to the ever growing collection of Marvel Pinball tables. This time, they have focused on a very hot topic right now, The Avengers. The pack brings in 4 new tables that are perfect for lovers of both Marvel and just the Avengers alone.
The first table that you get in this set is an Avengers table based on the new blockbuster movie. All of the character designs
are based off of the actors from the movie and you see them as you fight against Loki. The table allows you to chose which Avenger ball you want to use (Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor or Hawkeye) and each has its own “powers.”
In terms of table design, this is easily the spotlight and best table in the collection. You are playing on a table that seems to have the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier as a big inspiration. While playing the table, the missions make you choose multiple Avengers to work together to take down Loki. The table is very much a high speed table and will keep you constantly on your toes. One of the coolest aspects of the table is that the characters quote lines from the movie as you play; such as Iron Man saying “I’m bringing the party to you” when you start a game.
The second table in the collection is The Infinity Gauntlet that features a multitude of Marvel characters teaming up to take down Thanos. This is one of the weaker tables in the collection as it is very slow for the most part and is very open. However, because of how open the middle of the table is, it makes it a bit difficult to not lose your balls. While some people may enjoy this table, it disappointed me because of how “laid back” it is other than a bump here or there. The missions aren’t too terribly difficult but they do add a bit to the center, which is pretty barren, while you attempt to complete them.
The third table is based on World War Hulk. To put it simply, an organization in the Marvel universe decided to send Hulk into space because it was too dangerous to have him on Earth and they took away She-Hulk’s powers. Banner’s wife ends up dying along with his unborn child which just serves to piss the beast off more. Once he settles on a planet and eventually becomes its ruler, the same organization that sent him off of Earth decides to nuke that planet. Now, Hulk has returned to Earth and is just rampaging and beating the hell out of the other super heroes.
This table is very much close quarters and high velocity as you battle against the Hulk. The missions are very fun to complete and while this table is a very easy high scoring table, it will definitely take a bit of time to master it. The missions on this table are somewhat boring at first but once you get better at the table you end up having an epic face-off between Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man.
The last table in this collection is based on the comic book series, Fear Itself. The table has you face off against The Serpent, Odin’s brother, who has come to try to take over the world using the power of fear. You face off against him and his group of minions.
The table has a very interesting design as it is almost a mix of Celtic and post-apocalyptic and features Thor facing off against Serpent in the center. The bumpers are made from a broken Captain America shield and a giant serpent is in the back of the table. This table is a bit more on the speedy side but not too fast. One of the coolest features of the table is a giant loop around the bottom of it that, when taken, looks awesome. This table, just like many other ZEN Studios tables is enjoyable by newcomers and veterans alike.
ZEN Studios definitely did it again with a great Pinball table pack. Just like most of the other Marvel Pinball tables, these easily became some of my favorites in my collection. The table are easily enjoyable by both fans of Marvel comics and those just looking for some fun, new tables.
- Fantastic new tables for pinball fans
- Two high speed tables and two slower paced tables for a balanced pack
- The Avengers table features quotes from the movie
- The Infinite Gauntlet table isn’t too great compared to the others in the pack
Score: 5/5
