Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3Ds released on February 26th 2011 and held on to the dual screens that made the Nintendo DS popular. Along with this came a UI that could be accessed at any point and the ability to toggle 3D graphics. The 3DS struggled as a system until a price cut was announced on July 28th 2011. That price cut which was coupled right before the launch of both Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3D Land saved the system. The 3DS went from a system that was failing to succeeding. In August 2012 the 3DS XL revision was released with a much larger screen and rounded sides instead of sharper edges. In October of 2013 the 2DS was release which removed the often neglected 3D feature of the system and dropped the clam shell design for a system that wouldn’t need to be opened and closed.
