Pinball FX 2 DLC Review – Ms. ‘Splosion Man Table

Ms. 'Splosion Man is coming to 'splode all over your Pinball experience.

The combination of Zen Studios and Twisted Pixel is like a match made in heaven. Both companies nearly always deliver with top notch games and content. I’m pretty sure I was not the only person that got really excited over the pure thought of the two teaming up to deliver us a new table.

This past Wednesday Zen Studios finally released that table, Ms. ‘Splosion Man. It is made after, of course, the hit XBLA game by the same name. The table, like the other Pinball FX tables, is 240 MSP or $3 and is easily one of the most visually appealing tables released so far. The entire experience of it emulates the game as much as possible.

While playing this table, it is very easy to get lost in the beauty. You will feel as if you are actually playing the XBLA game. The table is so well designed that it perfectly captures the essence of Ms. ‘Splosion Man. From exploding barrels to her cute little dancing. Even the ramps feel natural to the setting.

Every aspect of the table is taken almost directly from the hit title and provides endless hours of fun. The Mighty Eternal is immediately noticeable on the back of the table as is Ms. ‘Splosion Man in the bottom left. Both of these character are fully animated and provide a lot of laughs. The dialogue is taken straight from the game but sounds very nice and clean. The backdrop behind the table shows that you are within one of the labs and the table looks like the labs as well. Patrolling rollerbots, scientists, and even ‘Splosion Man himself make appearances. There is also a cameo from the Destructoid robot on the table.

There are a plethora of different challenges within the table and all of them are incredibly fun. Along with being fun, they also make many references to different parts of the game. To start the different challenges you must attack the Mighty Eternal. When you attack him, it starts the different challenges of the table. I don’t want to ruin the table so I’ll just say that the more challenges you complete increases the fun exponentially.

The physics work fantastically on this table and the special effects are top notch. The entire time I was playing it I had a huge smile on my face and it was hard to stop. The Ms. ‘Splosion Man table is priced extremely fair and, personally, I would even pay 400 MSP for the it.  The table is perfect in difficulty, being not too hard nor too easy. It will have you laughing and enjoying yourself for hours on end while you ‘splode around it and try to defeat your creators at Big Science.

  • Hours upon hours of enjoyment.
  • Very easy to score very high to boost your superscore.
  • The animation and voices are amazing and hilarious.

  • The ball sometimes blends in with the table.
  • The achievements are somewhat difficult.
  • Wish there was a cameo from Mandy.

Score: 5/5
